An Adorable Gabber
How does one collect a group of total strangers and guide them
To compose two pages about the most intimate details of their life
Then require them to read their writings aloud to strangers?
With great care, compassion, and a good deal of gentle persuasion
Persuasion which extends beyond the classroom to include
Emails, texts, phone calls, and one-on-one meetings, if required.
Armed with only a box of tissues she begins the journey
First by pronouncing we generate a group name, a psychological necessity
In order to become as one, a rallying flag upon which we declare our mutual trust
Within weeks she has transformed the strangers into bonded friends
Friends who know each other’s deepest secrets
Entrusted secrets which will remain so for eternity
Her laughter is infectious, and it arrives repeatedly during the sessions
She announces the week’s topic: Sex and Sexuality (giggle)
Followed next week by writing about (giggle) your impending death (giggle)
She – part psychologist, teacher, mother-hen, sister, and cheerleader
We will always be glad that we encountered such a gentle, caring woman
Filled with laughter, joy and giggles galore schooling a class of Gabbers
The Spillers: Fred, Marguerite, Jan, Azam, Valerie and Charlie
