The Birren Center for Autobiographical Studies (Birren Center) is committed to fostering a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment for all. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any kind.
I. Non-Discrimination
The Birren Center is an equal opportunity organization. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, medical condition, citizenship, marital status, or any other characteristic protected by law. All individuals have the right to participate fully in the Birren Center programs and employment opportunities.
II. Anti-Harassment
Harassment, including sexual harassment, is strictly prohibited. This includes unwelcome verbal, visual, or physical conduct that creates a hostile, intimidating, or offensive work or program environment. Examples include, but are not limited to:
Offensive jokes, slurs, or epithets
Unwanted sexual advances or comments
Derogatory images, gestures, or electronic communications
Physical interference or intimidation
Retaliation against someone who reports misconduct
III. Reporting and Response
Anyone who experiences or witnesses discrimination or harassment should report it to the Executive Director or a designated Board member. The Birren Center will promptly investigate all complaints in a fair and confidential manner and take appropriate corrective action as needed.
