The Birren Center for Autobiographical Studies is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to enriching lives through the art of life story writing and sharing. We believe in the transformative power of life stories to connect generations and build community, bridge diversity, and make us whole—one story at a time.

The Birren Center Board of Directors

The Birren Center for Autobiographical Studies is currently recruiting for multiple board positions. Our board members champion the Birren Center by providing strong leadership, wise counsel, and due diligence.

Who is our ideal board member?

The Birren Center is looking for passionate, mission-aligned individuals who are action-oriented, strategic thinkers able to provide leadership, and work in a collaborative environment. Expertise in one or more of the following areas will be a strong asset:

  1. Previous experience on a working board

  2. GAB instructor and/or industry experience

  3. Accounting and financial management

  4. Communications and marketing

  5. Curriculum development and program planning

  6. Fundraising and revenue generation

  7. Instructor engagement and development

  8. Volunteer coordination and engagement
