SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

The Birren Center for Guided Autobiography's Anthologies are written by members of the "GAB" community--students and teachers who have experienced Guided Autobiography workshops. Write about a brief moment that changed you—a turning point, realization, or  incident that revealed something essential about who you are. Choose a  small scene with a big echo.

1. Your original work must be on the theme of "Moments That Shape Us" 

2. Must be written in English or Spanish

3. Length: 800-1,000 words

4. One submission per person

5. Include a 50-word bio

6. Must not be previously published or accepted for publication elsewhere. If your essay has been previously published, you must own the rights to it. You are responsible for ensuring you still own the rights to your work.

Submissions will be selected on the following criteria:

• How well the work reflects the theme

• The essay's intent and ability to enlighten, inspire, and entertain the reader

• No excess profanity, graphic sexual content, or disrespect toward any category of persons
